Extend

Extend video before or after a timeline boundary with AI while preserving the source clip.

Extend is the timeline workflow for extending video with AI from an existing boundary. It is useful when a clip ends too early, starts too late, or needs a little more motion before the edit can breathe.

Kepler treats Extend as a safe experiment. The original media stays unchanged, and the generated continuation is placed on a new generated track by default. That makes it easy to compare the result against the source and remove it if it does not fit the cut.

A typical workflow:

- Select the clip boundary or region that needs more time.
- Open Extend from the Generate menu.
- Choose whether the extension should happen After or, for supported models, Before the reference boundary.
- Set the duration and describe the motion, subject behavior, camera movement, and what should stay consistent.
- Review the credit cost before generation starts.
- Place the generated continuation above the source timeline span.

Good Extend prompts describe continuity. Mention the subject, action, camera direction, speed, environment, lighting, and anything that should not change. Short prompts can work for simple motion, but detailed prompts give the generation service more context to preserve the shot.
